Product Development

Microplex, Inc. designs, and manufactures custom substrates, hybrid circuits, and assemblies for medical, communications, telecommunications, sense, automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, and fiber optic industries. Microplex provides an efficient and cost effective methodology in the product development process greatly enhancing your time to market, with minimum impact on your current engineering resources. Out broad based resources and capabilities can be quickly assimilated to provide a professional team with appropriate background and experience to bring your development project into production rapidly, and getting you to the market place first. Mircoplex's product development process consists of found basic phases.

  • INVESTIGATION
  • DESIGN
  • PROTOTYPE
  • PRODUCTION

INVESTIGATION

The investigation phase begins with the review of you required definition (PRD). Microplex draws on its broad technical expertise in engineer and manufacturing to develop a clear understanding of your requirements. In addition to resident resources, Microplex has a broad network of resources to address a variety of issues in the product development process. The assimilated information in this investigation phase is specific to your requirements and will generally include:

  • Product features, tradeoffs and evaluation
  • Product architecture
  • Design and development schedule
  • Development costs
  • Product cost analysis
  • Manufacturing costs
  • Intellectual property rights

DESIGN

Microplex, your "partner", provides the necessary design and development expertise in translating your schematics and drawings into manufactureable hardware. Microplex's professional engineers utilize the latest CAD/CAE/CAM

tools to enhance the design process and reduce the development cycle. Areas of expertise include.

  • Multilayer architecture
  • Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave
  • Mixed signal
  • Thick signal
  • Thermal and industrial packaging
  • Component and subassembly analysis.
PROTOTYPE

Microplex's quick reaction capability reduced the design to prototype cycle considerably over classical approaches. The project engineer holds regular review meetings with you, the customer, to approve the design and explorer performance versus manufacturing costs tradeoffs. Agreement is reached and engineering prototypes are fabricated. Performance, compliance to desired operating characteristics, tolerances, component variations, and worst case scenarios are evaluated to determine effects on full scales production. Additional fabrication, test and evaluations for commercial, industrial, consumer, or government applications may include:
  • Design verification
  • Thermal and environmental considerations
  • Life and stress testing
  • Pre-production
  • Pre-production nits for beta testing
  • Test procedure and test equipment requirements.

PRODUCTION

The transition from design to high volume manufacturing is executed to insure the optimum quality and timely delivery. Production jigs, test procedures and test equipment is specified and , where necessary, specialized equipment is fabricated to supplement commercially available equipment. All the necessary documentation and engineering support is profiled to assure a smooth manufacturing start-up process.
